Bb Collaborate Whiteboard Basics

To access the whiteboard, click on this icon.

To place content on the whiteboard, click on Load Content.

Browse to your content and select Open.

You will then be asked if you want to import images as individual pages or if you want to place the image on the current page. Make your selection and click Load.

Now the content will appear on the whiteboard.

The tool panel allows you to perform specific tasks.

To place a screenshot on the whiteboard, go to the website or application where you want to take a screenshot and press Shift+PrtScn on your keyboard.

Go back to Collaborate, click inside the whiteboard, and press Ctrl+V on the keyboard. The screenshot will now be placed onto the whiteboard. You can move and resize it like you would any other object. Resize a screenshot or object by clicking and dragging on a corner of the box containing the screenshot.Whiteboard-8

Share One Application in Bb Collaborate

You can share one application in two ways.

Go to Tools->Application Sharing->Start Sharing.

Click on this icon.

You will then be able to select your application from a list.

Select the application you want to share and then click on Share.

A dialog box will then open to confirm that you are sharing the application you chose. Click on Ok.

Your screen will now look like this. Your room will see the application that is contained within the yellow box.

These icons allow you to take a snapshot of the screen, to pause sharing, and to stop sharing.

After you click on Stop Sharing, you will be taken back to this screen, which will allow you to either resume sharing or go back to the whiteboard.

How to Chat in Bb Collaborate

In Collaborate, chatting is easy. First, make sure to have the chat feature enabled. Enable chat by clicking on the chat icon. To enable the chat feature for the whole room, go to Main Room and click on the chat icon. As you can see, chat will now be enabled for all the students in the room. (In this example, there is only one student in the room.)

If you do not want all the students to be able to chat, make sure to keep this feature disabled in Main Room.

You can always enable chat for individual students by clicking on or hovering over their name and clicking the chat feature on.

To send a chat to the entire room, go to the bottom of the chat window. You will see two tabs. One tab is for moderators. Here, moderators can chat privately with each other.

The other tab is the room tab. This is a public chat that all students will be able to see.

Click on this tab and type in the text field. Hit “Enter” on the keyboard when you’re finished.

All the students in the class will be able to see this message.

If you want to chat with an individual student privately, double-click on their name.

As you can see, a tab for the individual student opens up at the bottom. Only you and the student you picked will be able to see any messages written here.

*Note: All public chats will be saved with the session, but all private chats will not.
